NSW OC Thinking Skills Practice Test - 03

This NSW OC Thinking Skills practice test gives Year 4 students practice in analysing information, testing logical conclusions and solving unfamiliar problems in preparation for the NSW Opportunity Class Placement Test.

The test places particular emphasis on three areas:

  • Quantitative reasoning: Solving problems involving numerical constraints, rates, time calculations and interpreting data
  • Argument evaluation: Assessing evidence, recognising weak arguments and identifying assumptions or alternative explanations
  • Certainty and logical possibilities: Determining what must be true, what could happen and what cannot happen based on given conditions

Other questions cover conditional deduction, ordering and position, patterns, codes, spatial visualisation, scheduling and connections, testing students' ability to apply different reasoning methods.

Completing this test helps students improve logical accuracy, distinguish between possible and certain conclusions, and become more confident with challenging NSW OC Thinking Skills questions. Students can review the answers and explanations to understand incorrect responses and improve their problem-solving approach.

1. Tests can be attempted on any device, but we recommend a laptop, desktop, or tablet for the most convenient experience for students.

2. One can navigate between questions back and forth during the attempt.

3. This will ask for confirmation before test submission.

4. For a time-bound test, the submission will happen automatically at the expiry of the timer.
